Fictional Exercise - The Sun & The Moon
A short story about the first star-crossed lovers
Author’s Note: This is a work of fiction. Spoilers for Cowboy Bebop (the anime series and movie).
Legend has it that the sun and the moon were once lovers, set across different corners of time and space, fated to rarely meet at the same place.
The sun is said to be a dancer. His fists create fire but his feet moves like water. A master of both the martial and mercurial arts.
The moon, on the other hand, is a singer. Her cool demeanor accentuated by her melancholic tone. Every night she reveals more of herself through the blues of her music but, only once a month, does she allow her audience to enjoy the full experience of it.
The sun glimpses at the moon and instantly falls in love, pining for a woman that he can only see in his dreams. The universe perpetually pulling them apart because a love too potent can often produce as much pain as it does pleasure.
As a result, their story is like those of two cats existing in two different timelines or two romantics resting under the shade of a mulberry tree. The first pair of star-crossed lovers, their tragedy woven through the tapestry of the known galaxy.
