Life Told Through Rap - Fearless
A fairy tale about confronting your deepest hopes and fears
Author’s note: This is a work of fiction. The only thing real about this story is the music.
“I'm not scared of lions and tigers and bears…but I'm scared of loving you” – Jazmine Sullivan, “Lions, Tigers & Bears”
It’s a story we’ve all heard before: a woman walking through the woods, confronting the thing that worries her most.
Already familiar with cowardly lions, burning tigers and infernal bears, it’s the fearful symmetries of the heart that is the root of her terrors.
In the depths of her soul, what scares her is the prospect of being another victim, vulnerable to the whims of an arrow from a hunter’s quiver.
However, on the other side of the woods, is a partner who feels the same way too. Willing to put their doubts aside on the off chance of feeling something true.

Mannn, "Lions, Tigers, and Bears" is one of my favorite songs ever because Jazmine truly put it perfectly how we often feel about love; scared, afraid, and nervous. You hit the nail on the head with this one. And I'm beyond grateful for the mention of my poem, that really means the world to me. Seriously! Thank you so much!
