That time in music was so special and you captured it perfectly. So much potential. It felt like the future was at our fingertips until the tech companies stole it (seemingly) overnight.

Yeah exactly, it was such a turbulent time because the same ones that we pushed to the next level would, often, get crushed creatively (or otherwise) once they got there.

Tbh, looking back at it, it’s incredible how many Blog Era artists still have successful careers to this day.

The one thing I hate most about streaming is how it robbed us of community, of witnessing the growth of certain artists and feeling validated by the wins they accumulated along their journey.

We will never got those times back but I’m grateful that we got to live through it 🙏🏾

The community was the biggest part. At the very start of the SoundCloud scene, it was present but the quality control was zero and the labels co-opted that faster than it could keep up with. I think hip hop not being the chart topping dominator it became during the streaming era will be healthy for it and maybe set a foundation for another renaissance. There’s some really dope rappers out there just not an eco system for them to exist in. Work like yours is going a long way in cementing that ecosystem.
