Mr Noire, your pen, study, and mind are greatly appreciated πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½. It’s pure inspiration right here. Appreciate your generosity and giving us a look into, your book of rhymes! After this joint dropped I went right to Lost Tapes vol 1, one of my fav Nas Albums honestly. Love the analogy you did there, and this is probably one of my fav Noir joints too!

Might be a chat offline, but, after reading this joint it has me thinking of β€˜gaze’ and what the dear means in Get Out, and how a Fawn response (fight flight and fawn) might be alluded in the film. And, on a larger tip, something I’m interested in exploring on the mic via hip-hop, what a fawn response is in relationship to violent alpha male type behavior. Just sorta riffin at the moment to get the idea out. As ideas for me happen in conversation.

For me, the deer was the first sign for Chris to 'get out'. Another victim of Rose's family, trapped under an exploitative system. Which makes it interesting because it was the deer's antlers (unlikely from the same one that died earlier) that helped Chris eventually escape / find his way out.

John, thank you for sharing these drafts. There’s so much heat and heart and beautiful writing here. I want to say wolves is my favorite, but I fell in love with each short that I read, I can’t tell you which one shines the brightest because they all have my eyes! Appreciate your pen so much!

Thanks so much Stanley!

Appreciate the love and you reading all these entries. While I’m partial to the Aaliyah story, I do feel that β€˜Wolves’ is my best film essay to date. Shame that it took me almost two years to tie all the threads together though πŸ˜‚

Thanks again for reading and the support πŸ™πŸΎ

Brother, this collection of your writing felt like walking into your favorite shop that operates 24 hours a day, with all the money you could spend. I’m glad I took the time to nourish your list and your vivid stories within. One of my favorite joints I read this year. No doubt

A mixtape of memory, myth, and mediaβ€”each section hits like a verse, some raw, some refined. Feels like flipping through a sacred journal where pop culture becomes personal gospel.

Thanks man and, once again, appreciate you for telling me a couple months back to not let this stuff grow stale on the shelf.

It took some time to stitch these ideas together in a format that made sense but your kind words confirm that it was a worthwhile venture πŸ™πŸΎ
